In times of great difficulties books can help you feel at home. A good book can make you forget about the terrible things happening for a short while. They transport you to somewhere far away, were the characters problems outshine yours for a little while. So during this turbulent time I urge you to pick up a old trusted book and lose yourself for a few hours. Let the story pour into your soul and help wash away the turmoil for a little while. Tonight I will pick up This Lullaby By: Sarah Dessen and forget for a little while. What are some books that you turn to when this world gets ot be too much?
Hey y’all! I know it’s been a while since I have been on, and I am sorry. I was so busy that I fell out of sorts with anything that had to do with fun. No books, at all, were read during this time. I am sad about that. But, guess what? I am officially on summer break! Woooohooo!!! (Technically I am taking 2 courses this summer, 1 at a time, but whose counting?!?! More time for reading!!) Which brings me to updating you on my current reading! I am finishing the Goddess Wars series by Kendare Blake. I am so thrilled to finally have time to enjoy this book! I am roughly 1/2 way through and if I continue my reading rate I will finish tomorrow night! Super excited!
Lets chat! What are you reading?
Hey all! So I failed miserably at the read-a-thon. I only read 45 pages 😦 I am very sad about that. But it’s ok, I have learned what I need to do to be successful at a read-a-thon… and that includes planning better.
But any who, on to my Current Read Sunday post!
The second in the Goddess War trilogy, this book has amazing aspects of Mythology in it, which I love! I started this when I started the read-a-thon, but I never got to finish it. So I am now! I can’t wait to finish and read the third book!
Lets chat! What is your current read??
Just kidding! I never forgot this! I just did not have anything fun and new or interesting to post about!! Life has been crazy busy, and very eventful lately. This does not make for a good time to read 😦
But that is all about to change because I am super excited to announce that I am participating in a read-a-thon! I have never done one, so I am super excited to do it! This one is done by Shannon @leaninglights and it’s called #TBRTakedown3.5
Check out the intro video for it!
I am working on coming up with my list so look for a post tomorrow on that!! 😀
Let’s chat! Have you ever done a read-a-thon? What’s on your to be read pile??
Not much to update on my current reading Sunday, since I haven’t started my book yet 😦 Homework and other obligations add up to no reading time. But, since my birthday was at the end of last month and I haven’t had a chance to get myself a gift yet (yes, I buy myself birthday gifts, because if I don’t love myself, why would anyone else? And I deserve nice things too!!). I decided instead of buying a new book at full price, to take the amount I would have and go to a used book site that I have had good luck with (look for a book site post this coming week!!) and ordered myself about 5 books for the same price! I am extremely happy with my haul!
Your turn- What are you reading today??
Well, because of the Super Bowl, the crazy weather and my large amount of Homework this weekend I was not able to post my Current Reading Sunday post. So lets do it today! Because I am so excited for my new book, I really can’t wait to share!
Currently Reading: The Witches: 1692
I am so excited to start this book! I received it for Christmas this year from my nieces and have been saving it to start when I need a new book rush. I have always been a history buff, and I have a special place in my brain for anything dealing with the Salem witch trials. I have not started it yet, but I will be tonight. I can’t believe I have waited this long to read it (I think hiding it from myself helped a little)!
Your turn: What are you currently reading?
I love the feeling of calm that comes over me when I walk into a bookstore.
I love the feeling of whatever bad has been happening lately rush right out of my body.
I love the excitement that starts to build as soon as I touch the first book I look at.
I love the smell of all the new books.
I love the feel of them, rough edges, smooth bindings, the texture of the cover and the paper, the feeling of the lettering on the hardcover books.
I love lazily wandering the aisles looking for my next adventure, I love my narrowed laser focus when I know exactly what book I am gunning for.
I love little book stores, I love big book stores.
They truly are my happy place.
