Current Reading Sunday (On Tuesday)

Well, because of the Super Bowl, the crazy weather and my large amount of Homework this weekend I was not able to post my Current Reading Sunday post. So lets do it today! Because I am so excited for my new book, I really can’t wait to share!

Currently Reading: The Witches: 1692

Witches1692

I am so excited to start this book! I received it for Christmas this year from my nieces and have been saving it to start when I need a new book rush. I have always been a history buff, and I have a special place in my brain for anything dealing with the Salem witch trials. I have not started it yet, but I will be tonight. I can’t believe I have waited this long to read it (I think hiding it from myself helped a little)!

Your turn: What are you currently reading?

My Happy Place

I love the feeling of calm that comes over me when I walk into a bookstore.

I love the feeling of whatever bad has been happening lately rush right out of my body.

I love the excitement that starts to build as soon as I touch the first book I look at.

I love the smell of all the new books.

I love the feel of them, rough edges, smooth bindings, the texture of the cover and the paper, the feeling of the lettering on the hardcover books.

I love lazily wandering the aisles looking for my next adventure, I love my narrowed laser focus when I know exactly what book I am gunning for.

I love little book stores, I love big book stores.

They truly are my happy place.

To Read List

I like to be organized. A lot. To the point were I am making a list of books I will be reading….even if it’s an eventually thing. So I thought Wednesday would be a great day to post my To Read List! I don’t really have a rhyme or reason to what goes on it, just that I want to read it! So here it goes

January 27th 2016- To Read List

1.) The Storyteller- Jodi Picoult

the-storyteller

I love her books! I was up to date, until suddenly…I wasn’t anymore. I have about 3 of them to read now, which YAY!! Books!! But, also a little sad, because…thats 3 books I have yet to read of hers! What was I thinking?!?!? I had started this one, then misplaced it, so I started something else till I found it. Now I will start all over again!

2.) The Diviners- Libba Bray

Another book I started, misplaced, but have found again! (I apparently need to not have 20 places to put my books! Whoops!!) I love her writing as well, and if you haven’t read any of her books, run, don’t walk, to your nearest book store and purchase Going Bovine. I love that book with a passion. Seriously good read!

3.) The Book of Life- Deborah Harkness

16054217

This series is wonderful on so many levels. Its a little slow going at first, but if you can get past the first few chapters it picks up, and Oh My Goodness!! I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t read this series, or if she would have only did one book….. I don’t know if I can handle there only being three right now either….

So there you go! This is the list of things I want to accomplish in my reading!

Your turn! What’s on your To Read List?

School, Work, & Finding A Balance

I am currently going to school to finish my Bachelors degree in Business. I am also working two jobs (and doing a direct sales business, but that is my “fun” job). This makes for a difficult balance of both social, work and school times and obligations.

I have noticed in the past few weeks that I am really struggling finding “me” time, and doing things that I want to do vs. things that need to get done. I am working on finding my balance, which has never been an easy thing for me anyway.

So question: How do you balance your obligations and still have time for yourself?

Book Borrowing

I don’t know about you guys, but when I borrow out a book there is a strict protocol that is to be followed (Because, lets face it, a book is an extension of me, so if you are one of the select few I borrow to, feel special!).

There are a few things that I hate, hate , HATE when people do to my books like…

  • Bend the corners to mark their spot (Use a book mark, a scrap of paper or ribbon, anything but bending the pages!!! The horror!!!)
  • Write in it (Is it yours? no. So do not mark it like it is your territory! Again, use a scrap of paper or a sticky note to mark it if you need to comeback to it, no pencil and god forbid you write in PEN in MY BABY!!!!)
  • Get it unnecessarily dirty (a little smuged is one thing, because lord knows I have been known to multi-task while trying to finish a book, but there is no need to drop it in a puddle or wreck its cover with pop…. gah!!)
  • Not return it for a long period of time (Select people, if they tell me, can have for over a month. But if you aren’t that person, don’t push it. I would like to have my baby back safely sooner rather than later. Thanks)
  • Not return it at all ( MY BABY!!! Why have you stolen it from me!! NOOOOOOOO)

Again, I don’t know about you, but I occasionally get very anxious over book borrowing, but I want them to read something amazing… so I borrow it out. Oh, well.

Your turn! What is on your rule list for book borrowing?

Current Read Sunday

I have found that when I start school I lose track of my reading. I will go weeks and even months without starting a book, which just about kills me since I love reading so much. So I will start updating my blog with “Current Read Sunday” posts. I hope you’ll join me in posting about your current book and why you choose to read it! So with out farther ado, here is my current read

Current Read: Working Stiff By: Rachel Caine (Book one in the Revivalist series)

This book is one of those that I dive in head first and don’t come up for a breath until the very end. Which is why I am reading it again. I had read it once when it first came out, but now I see that she came out with more in the series (again, this is when I get into a reading block because of school). I love this author, I have read her Weather Warden series and the Outcast Season series, as well as her YA series, The Morganville Vampires.

If you like fantasy books, with some action and some science fiction thrown in, this is the series for you.

Your turn! What is your current read?
